Simu Liu and Allison Hsu wedding details feature an unannounced performer
A ceremony at a French château brought together poetry readings from Hollywood stars and late-night sets from famous friends.
Simu Liu and Allison Hsu have officially unveiled details and portraits from their romantic destination wedding in the south of France, opening up about the ceremony in a feature published Tuesday by Vogue.
The Canadian actor and Hsu, the vice president of digital marketing at Interscope Records, married on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Château d’Estoublon in Provence. The weekend festivities kicked off with a welcome party held at the historic Carrières des Lumières before the couple gathered their families and close friends for the outdoor ceremony.
TMZ and People first reported that the couple had tied the knot following the wedding weekend, but official photographs and reflections from the bride and groom were kept private until now.
A ceremony filled with poetry and handwritten vows
The couple was married by their close friend and groomsman, Jason Y Lee, who officiated the ceremony. The service featured special readings from family and celebrity colleagues, including Liu’s Last Breath co-star Woody Harrelson, who read Reverend Daniel Harris’ poem “Blessing of the Hands.” The bride’s brother, Joshua Hsu, shared a reading of Robert Fulghum’s “Union,” after which Liu and Hsu exchanged handwritten vows.
“I couldn’t stop thinking about how perfect everything was,” Liu told Vogue and Just Jared. “Our friends and guests looked absolutely beautiful, and then the moment Allison stood at the top of the aisle, I was overwhelmed with emotion looking at my life partner.”
For the ceremony, Hsu wore a custom bridal gown created by Taiwanese couture label Nicole + Felicia. Liu chose a custom suit by Garrison Bespoke paired with a Versace jacket.
Celebrity guests and surprise musical sets
The reception featured several musical moments organized by the couple’s friends. Singer and actress Reneé Rapp sang Etta James’ classic “At Last” live for Liu and Hsu’s first dance together as husband and wife.
The party continued late into the night with multiple musical acts. Canadian DJ duo Loud Luxury played an energetic set that included their remix of Taylor Swift’s track “The Fate of Ophelia.” Later in the evening, Liu’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings co-star Benedict Wong took over the turntables, performing a late-night set under his moniker “DJ Obi-Wong.”
In addition to Harrelson, Wong and Rapp, the guest list featured Olympic figure skaters Alysa Liu and Eileen Gu. Online, fans congratulated the newlyweds on Instagram, with several playfully noting Liu’s Marvel superhero character and joking that he had finally parted with “one of his Ten Rings.”
Looking back at their journey
Hsu expressed deep appreciation for the effort their loved ones made to travel abroad for the celebration.
“Looking back, we’re just so overwhelmed with gratitude,” Hsu shared. “We’re still wrapping our heads around the fact that we were able to celebrate the start of our marriage with our loved ones in a place as magical as Provence and at venues as special as Carrières des Lumières and Estoublon.”
“We continue to be moved by the amount of time, energy, and coordination that our destination wedding required of everyone involved,” Hsu added. “And we just feel unbelievably lucky as we continue to reflect on the weekend’s celebrations and every precious memory it created.”
Liu and Hsu first crossed paths at a mutual friend’s Fourth of July barbecue in 2022. They made their red-carpet debut as a couple in November 2022 at the premiere of the holiday action film Violent Night. Liu later proposed on May 10, 2025, during a trip to France on the rooftop of the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris.
While the newlyweds have offered fans a full look into their wedding celebration, the couple has not yet shared where they plan to travel for their honeymoon.
