Love Is Blind Season 11 star Jax leaves Stew before the Mexico trip
A sudden exit right after the reveal doors opened forced producers to step in and deliver an unexpected decision to the Boston contestant.
Contestant Jacqueline “Jax” Guelli abruptly walked away from the dating experiment on Love Is Blind Season 11 immediately after meeting her fiancé Scott “Stew” Stewart in person, leaving the experiment before their planned trip to Mexico.
The moment unfolded on Wednesday, October 14, as Netflix released the first five episodes of the Boston-based season. According to Us Weekly and TV Insider, the couple got engaged sight unseen in the pods, but the connection unraveled moments after the reveal doors opened. During their face-to-face meeting, Jax told Stew, “You’re not really what I was expecting, but it makes sense.”
The sudden exit
Before meeting in person, the pair had agreed that they would not kiss or say “I love you” during the reveal, as reported by MEAWW. Jax had also voiced reservations in the pods when Stew revealed that he had never been in love before, noting that she considered it a possible red flag.
Shortly after the reveal concluded, a show producer stepped in to break the news to Stew alone. As reported by TV Insider and Just Jared, the producer explained that Jax asked to leave the experiment on the spot and refused to meet with him again.
“Jax has just informed us that she does not want to go to Mexico with you. She asked to go home immediately. We offered her the opportunity for her to sit down and talk with you. She declined,” the producer told Stew. Production also confirmed that Jax asked them not to share her personal contact details with him.
Stew’s reaction
Stew was visibly taken aback by the sudden departure. “Wow, I guess the feelings were not mutual. It seemed like this really could’ve been something,” he said on camera.
Despite the abrupt ending to the engagement, Stew reflected on the experiment without anger in a confessional. “I would still say that this was a profoundly positive experience. I have no regrets about taking this step. I have no regrets about doing this,” he stated. He added, “Life goes on, and I’ll be heading back to Boston, and we’ll see what happens.”
Jax explains her flight mode
Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum, as reported by Cosmopolitan, Jax admitted she felt overwhelmed immediately following the reveal and panicked. Looking back at her decision to leave without speaking to Stew, she said, “It felt douchey.”
“What I felt was real at that time. The good and unfortunately the bad was real too, and it had nothing to do with him or his looks. It was the moment, and it was way too much for me,” Jax explained. She expressed remorse over how she exited, adding, “I wish I had handled it better. He deserved a conversation, and it deserved to end differently, because he’s a gentleman and I should have handled it like a lady, but I didn’t.”
Where they stand now
Brief engagements are not unprecedented in the franchise. Us Weekly noted that Jax and Stew join previous couples whose engagements ended quickly after the pod phase, including Zack Goytowski and Irina Solomonova in Season 4 in 2023, as well as Kacie McIntosh and Patrick Suzuki in Season 9 in 2025.
The story for Jax and Stew did not entirely conclude at the reveal doors. TV Insider reported that the two reconnected for an in-person sit-down at a restaurant in Boston at the end of Episode 5. What was said during that dinner, and whether the two maintain any relationship following filming, has not yet been revealed.
