Heidi Klum Halloween costume 2026 required a crew in hazmat suits

A towering eight-foot prosthetic structure for her 25th annual party left the host relying on a syringe just to drink water.

Heidi Klum celebrated the 25th anniversary of her annual Halloween party by transforming into an eight-foot-tall, bloody severed hand modeled after her own left hand. The supermodel hosted the milestone celebration on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Cathédrale Restaurant at Moxy East Village in New York City, as reported by Page Six and the Daily Mail.

Klum appeared completely covered inside the towering prosthetic build. Only her eyes and mouth peeked out from an open wound sculpted into the wrist area.

Designing the prosthetic hand

Special effects makeup artist Mike Marino and his ProRenFX team created the elaborate piece using anatomical scans of Klum’s hand. The final build featured long manicured red nails, exposed tendons and ligaments at the severed base, and detailed replicas of Klum’s gold rings, including her thumb ring, wedding band, and engagement ring.

The artists also painted a replica tattoo of her husband Tom Kaulitz’s name onto the ring finger. Getting into the look was an extensive process that took between five and six hours on Saturday.

Hazmat suits and liquid by syringe

Klum made a theatrical entrance outside Cathédrale, arriving in a transport truck marked with red danger signs. She was accompanied by an entourage dressed in bright yellow hazmat suits, with one handler using a syringe to deliver liquids directly into her mouth so she could stay hydrated while trapped inside the suit.

“I mean literally, my left hand inspired me,” Klum told E! News on the red carpet.

Speaking to the Associated Press, she shared how the concept came together. “I looked at my hand and I thought, ‘Hey, I think I could fit my body in this somehow,'” Klum said. She admitted that walking around inside the framework was no easy task, adding, “Hands down, the hardest thing is carrying it. It’s quite heavy.” The exact total weight of the structure has not been confirmed.

Klum also introduced the disguise to fans on Instagram, writing in all caps, “TALK TO THE HAND #HeidiHalloween 2026 HERE WE GO.”

Family on the carpet and 25 years of parties

Kaulitz did not attend the celebration because he was away on tour. Klum made sure he was represented through the replica hand jewelry and ink, telling the AP, “A little bit of Tom is with me,” during her carpet interviews.

She was not without family, however. Three of her children, Leni Klum, Johan Samuel, and Lou Sulola Samuel, walked the red carpet alongside their mother. Other guests photographed arriving at the venue included musician Questlove, actor Jonathan Goldsmith, model Karen Mulder, and German television presenter Rebecca Mir with dancer Massimo Sinató.

The bloody hand marks a quarter century since Klum held her very first Halloween party in New York City back in 2000. Her streak of prosthetic transformations has included Medusa in 2025, a matching E.T. couple’s costume with Kaulitz in 2024, a peacock joined by Cirque du Soleil performers in 2023, an earthworm on a fishing hook in 2022, a flesh-eating alien in 2019, Princess Fiona from Shrek in 2018, the werewolf from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” in 2017, and Jessica Rabbit in 2015.
