Carson Daly Saturday Today co-anchor post comes with an expanded schedule
NBC News confirmed his permanent addition to the weekend desk with Laura Jarrett, leaving viewers wondering how he balances his on-air commitments.
NBC News has named Carson Daly the permanent co-anchor of Saturday Today alongside Laura Jarrett, the network announced on Thursday, November 5. Daly will make his official debut in the permanent seat on November 7, expanding his on-air presence across the morning franchise.
The appointment was confirmed in an official statement by Libby Leist, Executive Vice President of Today and Lifestyle at NBC News, reported by Twasl News and Headliner.
A six-day schedule at NBC News
Daly will maintain his regular weekday morning co-hosting and feature duties on Today while adding the Saturday morning broadcast, meaning he will appear six days a week for NBC News.
In addition to his morning portfolio, Daly will continue to host and executive produce Season 30 of The Voice in 2026, as well as serve as an executive producer on The Voice: Celebrity.
“Carson has been an integral part of the ‘Today’ family for the past 13 years, and we are thrilled that our viewers get to spend one more day of the week with him,” Leist said in the network statement.
“Carson and Laura make a great team, and we can’t wait for this fresh new chapter of ‘Saturday Today.'”
Filling the vacant weekend desk
Feature anchor Joe Fryer and meteorologist Angie Lassman will remain as regular members of the Saturday Today on-air team alongside Daly and Jarrett.
Jarrett has served as co-anchor of Saturday Today since September 9, 2023, when she replaced Kristen Welker after Welker moved to moderate Meet the Press.
The male co-anchor seat had been officially open since March 2026, when Peter Alexander stepped down after 22 years with NBC News. Alexander left to become a breaking news anchor, chief national reporter, and 11:00 AM ET host on MS NOW, the cable channel formerly known as MSNBC.
Daly had already spent time testing out the weekend desk, serving as an interim guest co-anchor alongside Jarrett on broadcasts in October 2026, including the October 10 and October 31 episodes. Viewers on Reddit had advocated for Daly to take on the post permanently ahead of the official announcement, praising his weekday consistency and his dynamic with Jarrett, according to TV Insider.
More than a decade on Today
Daly first joined the Today on-air team in September 2013 as host of the Orange Room digital studio. Across his career at NBC, he fronted the late-night program Last Call with Carson Daly from 2002 to 2019 and has hosted The Voice since its launch in 2011.
While Daly continues hosting Season 30 of The Voice, he announced on Instagram on August 4, 2026, that Keke Palmer will host The Voice: Celebrity for Season 31 in 2027, while he stays on behind the scenes as an executive producer.
NBC News has not disclosed the length or financial terms of Daly’s expanded contract. It is also not yet known whether working six mornings a week will lead to any changes for his syndicated weekend radio show, The Daly Download with Carson Daly.
