Natalie Portman baby with Tanguy Destable reshaped her view on parenting
Welcoming an infant in Paris brought wonder to her household while shifting the way she pays attention to her older children.
Natalie Portman has spoken publicly for the first time about the arrival of her third child, sharing that life at home with partner Tanguy Destable has left her “full of wonder and joy at this magical little human.” The actress opened up about expanding her family in an interview published Monday, October 26, in Harper’s Bazaar.
Portman gave birth to the baby in Paris at the end of August 2026, according to writer Leah Chernikoff in the magazine profile. The newborn is the first child together for the Oscar-winning star and the French music producer, joining Portman’s two older children, son Aleph and daughter Amalia.
Renewed perspective on parenting
Caring for an infant once again has also changed the way Portman looks at her household. The actress explained that watching a newborn develop day by day has given her a fresh appreciation for her older children as they step into their own identities.
“It gives me a whole new attention to my big kids too, as I am reminded of how recently they were these little fresh creations and how quickly they’ve blossomed into incredible humans with their own amazing personalities and senses of humor and ideas,” Portman told the outlet.
The interview also brought attention to the shift in environment since she welcomed her newest addition in France, where she experienced far less public pressure than during her previous pregnancies in the United States.
“When I was pregnant in New York and L.A., I was followed by 20 men every day. There’s so much interest in pregnant women in particular. I’d never been bothered more. And here, they know, and I’ve been almost completely left alone,” she explained.
A quiet romance in Paris
Portman publicly announced her pregnancy in an interview published in April 2026, describing the experience at the time as “such a privilege and a miracle.” Reports that the baby had arrived first surfaced on September 5, 2026, after People reported the late August birth in Paris and photographs of the couple stepping out with their infant circulated online, as noted by Page Six.
Portman and Destable were first reported to be dating in March 2025, according to coverage by People and French magazine Voici. Destable, an electronic musician and producer who records under the stage name Tepr, shares two sons, Étienne and Vadim, from his previous relationship with French actress Louise Bourgoin.
Portman shares 15-year-old son Aleph, born in 2011, and 9-year-old daughter Amalia, born in 2017, with her former husband, French choreographer Benjamin Millepied. The former couple separated in 2023 and finalized their divorce in 2024.
What we still do not know
While Portman shared heartfelt reflections on her new family dynamic, the couple has chosen to keep several details private. Portman and Destable have not publicly disclosed the baby’s name, sex, or exact date of birth in August.
According to coverage by Us Weekly and Just Jared, no fellow celebrities have publicly posted reactions to the newly published interview.
