Miley Cyrus returned to the live concert stage on Friday, October 16, headlining the first of two scheduled shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The performance marked her debut at the storied venue and her first major public concert in four years, as reported by USA Today, Consequence, and Us Weekly.

Performing mononymously as Miley, the singer delivered an 18-song set in support of her 10th studio album, Bass Persuades, which was released on September 18, 2026, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Alongside new material, she treated the audience to career staples including “Party in the U.S.A.,” “The Climb,” “Flowers,” and “We Can’t Stop.”

Honoring Dolly Parton

The centerpiece of the evening was an emotional tribute to Cyrus’s godmother Dolly Parton, who passed away on August 25, 2026, at age 80 following a battle with cancer. Cyrus paid homage by covering Parton’s classic song “Jolene” and clutching a framed photograph of Parton while singing her hit “Wrecking Ball.”

Speaking to the crowd between songs, Cyrus reflected on why the venue held such personal significance, according to Consequence.

“One of the main reasons that I wanted to perform at the Hollywood Bowl, above every single one, is that I only got to see Dolly Parton live in concert one time in my entire life, and it was here,” Cyrus told the audience.

She added that the memory is gold to her, telling fans that nothing could tear them apart and expressing how deeply she misses Parton.

A romantic moment onstage

During the performance of “Let’s Get Married,” Cyrus was joined onstage by her fiancé, Maxx Morando, who took a seat behind the drum kit. As reported by Parade, the couple walked out arm-in-arm, danced together, and shared affection and a kiss during the song.

Cyrus and Morando began dating in late 2021 and got engaged in late 2025 during a trip to Japan, though a wedding date has not yet been announced. On social media, fans circulated clips of the appearance, with comments praising their chemistry and comparing their stage dynamic to Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.

Surprise guests and future plans

The concert featured several other guest appearances across the night. Brooklyn band Model/Actriz joined Cyrus onstage for a collaboration on “Different Religion,” while The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne teamed up with her to duet on “Do You Realize??” and “Karen Don’t Be Sad,” according to InMusic and Consequence.

Demand for the two-night engagement was substantial, with an estimated 1.2 to 1.5 million people joining online ticket presale queues in September 2026. In an Apple Music interview quoted by Consequence, Cyrus addressed her preference for select destination shows over long road tours.

“This is the ultimate dress rehearsal. I’ve learned now through the [ticket] queue that my calculations are correct and people will come to me. I don’t need to drive to you. Proven, that was a quick test. I win,” Cyrus said.

While Cyrus described the Hollywood Bowl concerts as a rehearsal for non-touring live events, formal plans or confirmed dates for a future Las Vegas residency have not been announced. Cyrus is scheduled to perform her second show at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday, October 18, 2026, though the setlist and any potential guest performers for the follow-up concert have not been revealed.
