Country singer Ella Langley canceled her concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday, just hours before she was set to take the stage, citing a “serious security threat.”
The show, part of her headlining Dandelion Tour, was scheduled for the BOK Center on October 9. Both Langley and the venue released statements announcing the cancellation and prioritizing the safety of everyone involved.
What Ella Langley said
In a statement posted to her social media, Langley apologized to her fans for the last-minute change.
“I know how much time, travel, money and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can’t tell you how sorry I am,” she wrote. “This is not a decision that was made lightly. I was so looking forward to spending tonight with you, but your safety will always mean more to me than anything else.”
Langley added, “I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way.”
She also confirmed the decision was not hers alone, writing, “This decision was made under the advisement of local authorities, the venue, and my security team.”
What we know about the threat
The BOK Center echoed the singer’s concerns in its own statement. “Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of fans, venue personnel, and the artist, Ella Langley’s scheduled performance tonight at the BOK Center has been canceled,” the venue announced on social media.
While Langley and the venue did not specify the nature of the threat, Tulsa outlet News on 6 reported that a “false bomb threat call” led to the cancellation. According to the report, Tulsa police conducted a sweep of the venue with K-9 units but found no indication of a threat.
Tulsa police also stated that they “did not advise” Langley or the BOK Center to cancel the performance.
What happens next
The BOK Center’s statement noted that information regarding ticket refunds would be shared as soon as possible.
Langley’s Dandelion Tour is scheduled to continue, with her next show in Lubbock, Texas, on October 10 expected to proceed as planned, according to reports.
